Support when applying for university

Before deciding what universities to apply for there are things you can do to help you decide what ones to pick including:
- researching the universities online
- speaking to current and past students
- attend open days
- attend UCAS events with lots of different universities
Remember: you have until 16 October 2023 to apply for any course at Oxford or Cambridge, and most courses in medicine, veterinary medicine/science, and dentistry. You have until 31 January 2024 to apply for most other courses.
Open Days
UCAS have a handy tool to help you search for open days and events. If you are not able to attend an event in person or you want to see the university again most universities also have virtual tours.
What to look out for on open days
It's important to take everything into consideration when looking at a university you may want to attend, remember to think about:
- public transport links and parking arrangements
- how close the accommodation is to the campus
- what the situation is with accommodation after the first year
- if you will be doing a placement, where this may be located
- how far away the nearest supermarket is and the cost of necessities
- if you want to work part-time, are there places you can get to easily which are likely to have jobs
