Post-16 education and training

Adviza is a charity that delivers support, information, advice and guidance for all young people and adults to help make better decisions, enabling them to progress in education/work and achieve their full potential. They deliver the following in Buckinghamshire:

• The Princes Trust Programme: a 12-week re-engagement programme for young people (ages 16 to 24 years) not in education, employment or training.
• Building Futures: bespoke 1-to-1 support and group programmes are available from a named key worker.
• Skills Up Bucks: links with local employers for young people aged 17 and above.

The Camelia Botnar Foundation provides residential training and work experience, to help either disadvantaged young people or those in a problematic situation to learn a skilled trade, embark on a useful career path and successfully make their own way in life.

The Skills for employment, training and personal development programmes are designed to help and prepare young people aged 16 to 18 years (or up to 24 with an EHC Plan) for:

• work
• further education
• training
• living independently (if required)

This includes support from dedicated tutors, work experience, employability skills and functional skills qualifications in English and Maths.

The Work and Study Programme supports young people who cannot attend the above programmes. It comprises of 2 or 3 days in a work experience placement each week, and 1:1 tuition for functional skills qualifications in English and Maths.

The Horizons programme was developed to offer supported employment opportunities to help combat barriers to employment – criteria will include those who:

• have been out of employment for 3 months or longer
• are brand new to a career
• are making a complete career change
• are referred to us via partnering employment schemes

Through the programme, you can get:

• wrap-around support, which is tailored, based on individual needs and skills assessment
• access to 1:1 support from a career development consultant, bespoke training, and networking opportunities
• ongoing employability support with the aim of retaining employees beyond the 12 months where placements are a success. If this is not possible, we will work with the employee to find alternative employment.​

New Meaning Foundation offers alternative training programmes for young people, aged 16 plus who would otherwise not be in employment, education or training. Experienced tutors help young people to work out what they want to do and get them started with real, on-the-job learning. This includes a mix of work experience along with 1:1 tuition on employability skills and to get those crucial Maths and English qualifications.

People Plus provides a number of services including employment support, skills training, apprenticeships, independent living, and prison education on behalf of the government, as well as recruitment, training and development and wellbeing solutions to employers. For those who may face challenges in finding and staying in employment.

Talkbackprovides autism and learning disability support and service programmes, all designed around key stages of life. These services are designed for all ages.
