Apply for 15 hours childcare for your 9 months to 2-year-old

When to take up 15 hours childcare

If you have applied for 15 hours and receive an acceptance you will receive a code.

Take your sign-up code to your chosen childcare provider as soon as possible so they can verify it and confirm your childcare place.

Tip: make sure you sign up and verify your code in good time and before the deadlines if you can.

January (the Spring term)

You can only use ‘approved childcare’ providers participating in the scheme.

These could be:

  • a registered childminder, playscheme, nursery or club
  • a childminder registered with a childminder agency
  • a maintained school or academy

Once your child attends reception class within a maintained school or academy they will no longer be eligible for the free entitlement even if they haven’t yet turned five years old.

You may want to add a few providers to a shortlist to help you decide which is best for your child and which has spaces. You are not guaranteed a place at any one provider.
