Childcare for children with special educational needs and disabilities
What the law says
All childcare and early education providers have a responsibility not to treat a disabled child ‘less favourably’ than other children. This is in The Equality Act 2010.
This means that your child should have the same play and learning opportunities as other children. Providers should not charge you more for offering the same service to a disabled child. They also have a responsibility to make ‘reasonable adjustments’. These ensure that it's not difficult for disabled children to make use of a service.
