Local SEND Improvement
SEND and Inclusion Strategy
The SEND and Inclusion Strategy reflects our high aspirations, setting out our key priorities and the steps we are taking to achieve our goals across the local area.
The Strategy has been co-produced from the outset with key stakeholders including schools, young people and parent representatives from Families and Carers Together (FACT) Bucks and the Voluntary Community Sector (VCS).
SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2025 to 2030
We have started work to co-produce a new SEND and Inclusion Strategy for 2025 to 2030. To do this, we are working with children, young people, families and a range of partners.
The new strategy will be publicly consulted on and the final version published in early 2025.
At the ‘Shout Out for SEND’ conference in November 2022 young people told us:
- The language and words used need to be more supportive
- There have been many instances where teachers don’t understand the young person’s needs
- We need to adjust things to help young people with SEND be included both in school and in the community
- They can be themselves around their learning support assistants (LSA) as they are accepting and make them feel comfortable.
The young people shared where this has been done both well and not well.
This has been reiterated by our work with the Shout Out For SEND representatives, young people’s groups and SEND Young Inspectors.
This feedback has helped shape the aims and objectives of our strategy and informed our SEND Improvement Plan.
