Section 1: Introduction
On behalf of the Partnership Board, I am pleased to present this year’s Youth Justice Plan.
The Youth Justice Plan 2025 to 2026 provides an overview of the work of the Buckinghamshire Youth Justice & Support Team (YJST). The plan sets out the key achievements and performance over the last twelve months and identifies the priorities for the coming year. Buckinghamshire.
YJST will focus on embedding the wider principles of Child First across its service and partnerships.
As part of the wider Youth Justice partnership in Buckinghamshire, the YJST delivers early intervention, diversion, and statutory support to children. Staff and partners work together to achieve the National Indicators of :
- Reducing first-time entrants
- Reducing reoffending
- Reducing the use of custody
They will work with children, families, persons harmed, and communities to support them in achieving their full potential. Buckinghamshire YJST will deliver a service that is balanced to the individual needs of the child and the person/s harmed.
The service will focus on challenging disproportionate outcomes for children and children within the care of the Local Authority. The Partnership Board supports this vision, representing both statutory and voluntary organisations, which provide support and scrutiny.
This plan provides a summary of the progress made and outlines the strategic priorities for 2025 to 2026.
These include:
- Delivering against a robust Disproportionality Plan
- Sharing data for a bi-annual needs analysis
- Evidencing ways in which Child First has been adopted across organisations in Buckinghamshire
The YJST continues to perform well against National Indicators, which is a testament to its strength in working collaboratively with partners and building strong relationships with their children and families, leading to positive outcomes.
As always, the Partnership Board is grateful for the skill and dedication of all those working in this arena.
