Buckinghamshire Youth Justice Plan 2025 to 2026
Section 4: Auditing
What have we done, what has happened as a result, and what we will do next.
What we have done in 2024 to 2025
The Buckinghamshire YJST management team has completed a range of audits across the 2024/5 period. This has included:
- A partnership audit on Community Resolutions, where the Police were the decision-maker
- A management audit on decisions made on whether to offer intervention to those receiving out-of-court disposals
- A management audit of intervention plans
- A joint audit with the Police on the timeliness of outcomes for children
What has happened as a result
- Good practice shared internally by the Police with officers, to improve decision-making rationales
- The screening process for identifying children for support has been amended to be more inclusive of need
- Good practice examples of intervention planning are shared with practitioners alongside additional training
What we will do next
- Re-audit practice in relation to persons harmed to ensure their needs are being met
- Conduct a joint audit with CAMHS on the emotional and health needs of children open to the YJST
- Managers to complete an audit of safety and well-being assessments
