Section 4: Workforce Development

What we have done, what has happened as a result, and what we will do next.

What we have done in 2024 to 2025

  • Launched the national Prevention and Diversion assessment tool, providing training to all practitioners
  • Commissioned a staff well-being session, run by an external charity
  • Delivered workshops on Cultural Competency to all staff
  • Introduced the team and the Board to the new Inspection framework requirements
  • Actively celebrated and promoted national and cultural events to raise awareness of community diversity
  • Trained staff on gender awareness
  • Increased skillset of practitioners through the delivery of training on working with parents

What has happened as a result

  • Children are assessed in line with national requirements
  • Evidence within assessments and intervention delivery of greater cultural understanding and gender awareness
  • A whole service approach to persons harmed is being actively embedded

What we will do next

  • Deliver training to staff on working with children and families where English may not be their first language
  • Develop a workshop for staff to support their understanding of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities
  • Supporting practitioners in engaging families with multiple needs, focusing on professional boundaries to empower those we work with
