LBGTQ+ terminology
If you are new to the LGBTQ+ community, some of the language used could be confusing or difficult to understand. Stonewall has a list of LGBTQ+ terms to help you understand the terminology you may not know.
Support your young person coming out
Creating an environment that makes your young person feel they can safely tell you is really important. Having a non-judgmental space for your young person to explore their identity can make a big difference.
The NSPCC has information on

- supporting a young person with coming out
- who to contact if you are worried about a child.
Family Lives also has information to help you support your young person when they decide to come out.

FFLAG is a voluntary organisation that supports parents and families to accept and support their children who are LGBTQ+.
Having a child
Bliss offers emotional and practical support to LGBTQ+ parents who have gone through a neonatal birth.
Mental health
If you or your young person are struggling with your mental health there is lots of information and support available. This includes information for someone who is LGBTQ+.
