SEND sessions for parents and carers

The Buckinghamshire SEND Team are excited to invite you to attend in-person or online SEND sessions.
Drop-in sessions
There are two in-person drop-in sessions available to attend in partnership with the Family Hub Network.
These events offer a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers of children or young people with SEND to network, support each other, and engage with local area services.
Discover the support available for you and your child with SEND. Meet local services, ask questions, and explore what’s on offer.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Little ones are welcome to come along. No booking required.
High Wycombe at Mapledean Family Centre Plus

- Time: 10am to 12 midday
- Location: Mapledean Family Centre Plus, HP12 4PR
Use the electronic gates on the left of the access road (before entering the school site). Press the intercom for entry. If the car park is full, please park on the main road and walk in. Do not park on the Chepping View Primary Academy site.
Aylesbury at Berryfields Family Centre

- Location: Berryfields Family Centre, HP18 0FG
The Family Centre is within the same building as Aylesbury Vale Academy. Look for our sign to guide you to the entrance and press the buzzer to enter the building. There is parking on the residential roads around the centre.
Online briefings
There are two online SEND parent and carer briefings available to book onto.
These informative sessions are designed to help you better understand and navigate the world of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). To book your place on one of the sessions, click the date you would like to attend:
- Myth-busting: Separate fact from fiction as we address common misconceptions about SEND services.
- Early support offer: Explore the early support options available to help your child and family thrive.
- Leadership insights: Hear directly from local SEND service leaders about current initiatives and future plans.
These briefings are a valuable opportunity to build your knowledge, ask questions, and feel more confident in supporting your child’s journey.
The online briefings will run using Microsoft Teams. To join a briefing:
- Join via browser: Once booked, you will receive a meeting invite. Click on the "Join the meeting now" link. This will open a web page where you can choose to continue on your browser without needing to install the Teams app. Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome are the recommended browsers.
- Join via mobile app: If you prefer to join using a mobile device, you can download the Teams mobile app. After downloading, you can join the meeting as a guest by entering your name.
- If the meeting organiser has allowed it, you can join without signing in.
- Download MS Teams for Windows or the Teams mobile app.
