Short breaks service statement

Last updated: 21 October 2022

Appendix: Action for Children Buckinghamshire targeted short breaks appeals process

The different appeal stages, and contact information.

Stage 1: informal resolution

If you do not agree with the short breaks offer we have made to your child, please tell Bucks Activity Project.

Contact the office or the coordinator, in person, by phone or by email using the contact information below. They will be happy to talk to you.

At this stage, we will try to resolve the concern raised informally by gathering information from you about your concern and reviewing all the information provided to us. This may, or, may not lead to a change of offer, which would be communicated to you in writing within 10 working days.

Stage 2: formal appeal

If you still disagree with the short breaks offer allocated by Bucks Activity Project and wish to appeal the allocation given to your child please contact the coordinator or children’s services manager, in person, by phone or by email.

We will then ask a manager to review the support questionnaire and information provided by you. They will seek further information that might be relevant and will contact the social work team if your child is known to that service.

We will aim to address your appeal within 10 working days. If this isn’t possible, we will contact you to provide an explanation and indication of when a full response can be expected (within a further 10 working days). You will get a written response to your appeal.

Stage 3: complaint

If you’re not happy with our response to your appeal, you can make a complaint to Action for Children using our complaints procedure.

General comments

The wording of the support questionnaire and allocation of resources determined by this will be reviewed annually with Action for Children, FACT Bucks, Buckinghamshire Council Commissioning and Children and Young People’s Social Care to ensure that the system is fair.

General comments about the system are welcomed by each of these groups.
