Get help for you or your family

Help is available across Buckinghamshire for children, young people, families with children, and young people from birth to 19 years or up to 25 years with a special educational need or disability (SEND).

You can contact an organisation directly if you know they can help you.

Support groups

It is often helpful to meet up with others who have similar experiences, where people understand you and share tips.

You can use our directory to find groups local to you.

There are also groups run by experienced family workers:

Support from a family worker

If your family is experiencing multiple or complex issues that you need support with, our family workers in the Children's Locality Support and Safeguarding service may be able to offer help directly with you in your home.

Family workers can support families, children, or young people who need help because they are:

  • excluded from school or having difficulties engaging with education
  • affected by domestic abuse or parental conflict
  • demonstrating risk-taking behaviour
  • impacted by the consequences of substance misuse
  • affected by poor mental health
  • experiencing poor family relationships
  • impacted by financial problems and debt
  • having difficulty maintaining boundaries and expectations within the home
  • vulnerable to exploitation
  • living in a home environment impacting the health and well-being of a child

You can ask for help from a family worker if you are:

  1. a family member, requesting support for you or your family
  2. a young person, requesting support for yourself
  3. a member of the public, requesting for a family you know
  4. a professional*, requesting support on behalf of a family or child.

* Professionals should refer to Buckinghamshire's Continuum of Need and use the Raise a Concern form (MARF) to request a family worker.

Your form will be reviewed by the Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). Your details will be recorded in our electronic system before being passed to locality-based family workers.
