Support for children involved in or at risk of crime
Volunteering with the Buckinghamshire Youth Justice Support Team (BYJST)
We have several opportunities for members of the community to get involved in supporting the work we do.

An appropriate adult is someone who supports a child through an interview at the police station when they have been arrested.
A referral order is a statutory community order where the court refers a child to a youth panel.
As a panel member, your key role would be to agree and monitor a Referral Order contract with the child and their parents/carers.
Community engagement is a way for a child to make amends in their local community through taking part in activities.
As a community mentor, your key role is to help a child find activities they can join in their community and encourage them to take part.
An education volunteer role supports children who are not currently engaged in Education, Employment or Training to gain English and Maths GCSEs, or Functional Skill level qualifications.
As an education volunteer, your key role is to support children to gain confidence and skills and find a way back to education.
