HAF Annual Report 2025/26
Additional activities at HAF clubs
Information about additional activities at HAF clubs. This includes added value activities, oral health kits, the Eat the Rainbow Public Health partnership, Bikeability and Hey Girls CIC Period Packs.
Throughout 2025, additional activities were offered at HAF provisions. These additional activities aimed to increase the offer further. These ‘Added Value’ activities were offered over the Easter and Winter delivery periods by various partners (Appendix 2). They included activities such as:
- a roaming farm
- beatbox workshops
- a gaming bus
- Zorb activities
- magic workshops
Before the Easter delivery period, the HAF Team worked with Oral Health Foundation to organise the distribution of 2,650 Children's Plaque Brushing Packs. These were sent to 21 providers across 38 venues throughout Buckinghamshire. Opportunity Bucks Wards were prioritised.
Enough packs were ordered to ensure that providers with 'commercial' places could give packs to all children on site. This reduced any risk of separation between HAF and non-HAF children and young people attending.
This summer, in partnership with the Early Years HAF team, Public Health funded the delivery of 1600 of Veg Powers ‘Eat the Rainbow’ resource packs.
The delivery locations for both were decided together by the Early Years HAF team and Public Health. Together, they targeted Opportunity Bucks Wards. Many of these regularly host HAF provision every delivery period. The ‘Eat the Rainbow’ resource packs were delivered to 13 providers across 26 locations.
'Eat the Rainbow' - Provider feedback
Eat the Rainbow was very popular, and the children found it very engaging. - JR Sports
The children love this event; they get to taste different fruit and vegetables. We used the left-over vegetables in our roast dinner, and the children loved all the different choices. – Go PlayHoliday Club
Bikeability returned to HAF this Easter and summer. Tiny Bikers delivered 29 sessions across 14 providers and 18 venues.
Each session lasts 2 hours. It is aimed at children and young people aged 4 to 7 attending HAF provision across multiple providers. It focuses on developing the fundamental skills needed to ride a bike.
It is estimated that up to 300 children aged 4 to 7 accessed these sessions.
Bikeability - Provider feedback
Great session kids loved it with the added bonus that we could distribute 3 bikes to a few of children. Session was great. - Active Sports Wycombe
We arranged for Bikeability sessions to be delivered on-site through the HAF programme, ensuring that families like this one could access them at no cost.
The impact was hugely positive. The child successfully learnt to ride a bike during the Bikeability sessions at Thomley, achieving something that had felt out of reach for the family. Their mother was absolutely over the moon, sharing how she had planned the whole week around being able to attend and take part. - Thomley (SEND provider)
Following points raised by the Early Years Improvement and Development (IaD) Team, the HAF Team worked closely with Hey Girls CIC to distribute several of their ‘Roll-up Period Supply Kits’. These were sent to providers who opted into the opportunity to receive them.
This resulted in 25 kits being distributed across 12 providers. This supported female hygiene at the venues and helped to tackle hygiene poverty.
Each ‘Roll-up Period Supply Kit’ contained:
- Panty Liners
- Single Regular Pads
- Applicator Tampons
- Non-applicator Tampons
- Applicator Tampon Instruction Leaflets
- Non-Applicator Tampon Instruction Leaflets
Alongside the ‘Roll-up Kits’, each provider also received additional stock for the kits. This is so they could maintain them throughout the summer.
